A research student whose thesis has been approved by the Authority for Research Students, is entitled to the Ph.D. degree and will get a certificate regarding it soon after the approval of the thesis.
The date of approval will appear on the certificate.
Once a year, usually in June, the Ph.D. diplomas are awarded in a ceremony, which is part of the Board of Governors events.
Ph.D. graduates who attend the ceremony receive their diploma from the President of the Hebrew University, the Rector of the Hebrew University and the Dean of the Faculty of their studies.
Those who cannot attend the ceremony may pick their diploma from the offices of the Authority for Research Students few days after the ceremony. About two weeks later, diplomas which have not yet been taken are sent to the students by mail.
